About Project Três
We are committed to changing the world, one woman at a time.
Project Três is an initiative to empower and promote the economic development of women in India and Kenya.
We believe that providing life-changing opportunities through education, fair trade and self-sustainability is the key to create new economic and social opportunities.
Following the move to India in 2015, Project Três founder Carla Maria de Souza encountered the first woman involved in the project; Farida. After witnessing Farida's living conditions and because of her own struggle with domestic violence, Carla saw the need to empower women’s rights and equality. Using her fashion background and expertise, women involved in the project have the opportunity to learn creative artisan skills to help generate economic security and stability.
Our work allows women who have limited education and experience to become financially stable, foster positive social networks, care for their children and improve their quality of life.
In India, we call them our ladies and in Kenya, we name them mamas. They are family to us. They are mother’s, daughters, sisters and friends. They are women coming from domestic violence, divorce, acid attacks, limited education, refuges, housewives.
During their time in our project, they heal, become skilled, confident, learn about their finances, confident providers for their family and gain a sense of independence.
Project Três has empowered over 90 women so far.
